Chatty Matty

Jackson is getting to be more fun everyday. He is mr. chatty first thing in the morning often talking for 30 min straight. Then he wears himself out and falls asleep. Here is a video with him in action...

Daddy & Baby J Celebration

Since Jarvis and Jackson celebrated a birthday on the same day (Jan 23rd - Jarvis 34, Jackson 2 months) I decided to take them both out for a steak dinner at Del Frisco's. We picked an early reservation time so that if Jackson got fussy we wouldn't have to worry about onlookers staring. Unfortunately it was so quiet that when he did cry, albeit brief, it seemed like everyone in the restaurant heard him. I now know what it's like to be the one with the baby at the restaurant.:-) But we definitely did enjoy ourselves and our waiter was soo nice, he even offered to warm up Jackson's bottle! Next time they share a double birthday Jackson will be walking and will probably want to run all over the restaurant.

Jackson's 2 Months Old!!

Jackson turned 2 Months old today. This day was very special as his daddy's birthday was also today. At his 2 month check up he was 11 lbs 2 oz and 23 inches long which puts him in the 50th percentile for height and weight.

Jackson partied hard for his 2 month birthday. Today we celebrated with cupcakes and cookies from Celebrity bakery. Jackson blew out the candles for himself and daddy. There was also a special visitor in town, Uncle Trey, one of Jarvis' best friends from childhood. We also met Janelle and baby Maya for lunch. Baby Maya was on her best behavior and all decked out with her pink lace outfit and stunning shoes. Jackson enjoyed meeting her and can't wait for a fun play date.

Saturday Jackson will meet up with Grandma and Great Grandma for dinner at Houston's, Grandma's favorite restaurant. This will be a belated celebration for Great Grandma. And on Sunday, mommy is taking Jarvis and Jackson to Del Frisco's for dinner. Whew, what a social calendar for a 2 month old! Well see if 3 months is just as exciting.

Pooped

Today Jackson, Spaulding and I went on a long walk through the neighborhood and to the park. For the most part Jackson enjoyed the walk. Spaulding on the other hand probably would have preferred a walk by himself as he was somewhat scared of the stroller so he kept walking behind us. On our way back home Jackson fell asleep rocked by the rhythmic motions of the stroller.

Just Who Will You Be?

Ahh, look at those chubby cheeks.:-) I believe he is concentrating on when his next meal will be.:-) We are soo blessed to have him and thank God every day for his health and all the joy he brings us. I often look into his beautiful eyes and think about the possibilities. We hope that we will provide him with the courage, love and support for him to acheive his destiny, whatever that may be. But we know for sure it will be something GREAT!!!

Inauguration

Jackson and I celebrated the inauguration of President Barack Obama with Grandma. We watched the entire inauguration chowed down on some pizza and relaxed as the historic event unfolded. Although Jackson does not know what this day was all about, I can't wait to share with him what a historic year he was born in. I believe he too will be destined for greatness but of course as his mommy, I am probably a bit biased.:-)

Happy and Mad in a Matter of Seconds

Ahh so amazing how babies can flip the script and be pleasant and happy one minute and then fussy the next. Here are a few videos of Jackson I call "Happy Jackson" and "Fussy Jackson." Well the fussy video is very mild, it's a portrayal of him on the brink of fussy.

Paci or No Paci?

Here are a video of Jackson in action... Jackson's reaction when he doesn't want his pacifier:-)

My Hands Sure Taste Good

Jackson is now beginning to lick things (he must be talking to Spaulding:-). Anything that is near his mouth he will lick. Here he is licking his hands which he does often.

Sitting Up Already

Over the past couple of weeks Jackson has shown us that he can now sit up (aided by pillows or a couch) on his own without falling to the sides. Here he is looking at our ceiling fan, one of his favorite pastimes.

Swing to sleep

Jackson had plenty of activities this week. Here he is in his new favorite toy, the swing. Jarvis loves to put Jackson in his swing when he's watching the game because he knows Jackson will doze off to sleep and stay asleep.:-) My real estate agent was right, this has been a life saver.

Asleep on the Job

How often do we mothers find our husbands asleep on the job? Well for me I found Jarvis knocked out twice this week. I wonder who fell asleep first.:-)

Tummy Time Revisited

So I tried to show Jarvis how Jackson would rather lay and relax during tummy time vs. developing neck and shoulder strength and he instantly proped himself up as soon as we put him on the mat!!! Unbelievable! We'll see if he keeps this up when it's just the two of us again.

Tummy Time

As I now believe Jackson will be an over achiever :-), I figured I'd start him early with tummy time. Since he already has pretty good head control I figured he should pick this up fairly easily. I quickly found out he'd rather lay and relax as opposed to lifting himself up. Maybe he was tired but after 10 min of trying to get him to lift his head he wouldn't move.

He did however get excited with back time. He actually started hitting the ball above him, altough I don't think he knew what he was actually doing.:-)

Head Control

From about the first week Jackson has amazed us with his strong head control. Apparently, head control is something that comes later down the line. While still not perfect, he can hold his head without support for several minutes. Here he is with Grandma in one of his favorite positions - head cocked back looking at the lights and fans on the ceiling.

Daddy's Office Visit

Jackson and I were anxious to get out again so we took a trip down to the southside of Dallas to visit Daddy's new business. Jackson was most excited about the ceiling lights. After several photos we finally got him to look at the camera.

First Outing

After being homebound for 6 weeks with the occassional doctor visit, Jackson and I had our first outing to Target and Costco. I think the day might have been a little long for him because he got fussy in Target, luckily for me and the peace of the shoppers as soon as I pushed the cart it soothed him to sleep.

Ready for our outing...

Whew...that was a long day...
